365 DAYS
The Genesis of my journey back to faith: December 3rd, 2024 - 365 days.
I wanted a calmer, happier life. Less chaos, more joy. That’s really where this whole thing started. Just a simple desire for peace.
I picked up a gratitude ritual a few years ago — journaling nearly every day, listing the good, anchoring myself to the positive. And it helped. Gratitude always helps. If there’s a single habit that improves life dramatically, it’s that one — And Faith. Faith will keep you in the fight. Stay in the fight.
A Heart That Keeps Learning — Faith transformed
Here’s the honest truth: gratitude wasn’t enough. It was good… just not transformative. I needed something deeper — something that didn’t just lift my mood but changed my life.
That search led me on a journey I hadn't expected. 365 days wasn’t an intentional goal. I just started praying. Listening. Reading and studying. God did the rest.
Gratitude begs the questions;
Where exactly does your gratitude land? To whom — or to what — are you grateful? Are we thanking “the universe”? Can you even thank a thing? Or are am I grateful to the One who created it — and me? — Colossians 1:16
That’s when God nudged me toward my long-ignored faith — not just lukewarm faith — but locked away in a dusty storage unit somewhere between “Old Goals” and “Random Cables I Might Need” forgotten faith.
I prayed. I asked. I let my curiosity open up to His word.
The question: Where do I start?
The answer: "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels." — Proverbs 1:5
Proverbs hits us with a simple but powerful truth: the wise never stop learning.
Not in their character.
Not in life.
Not in their faith.
Not in their walk with God.
This isn’t about collecting information or sounding spiritual. Biblical wisdom is different. It’s the kind of wisdom that shapes our decisions… redirects our habits… and keeps us aligned with our calling and God’s will when life gets noisy — life is mostly noise!
A teachable spirit is a hallmark of a follower of Christ. It’s the posture that says, “Lord, I don’t know it all — but I want to grow.”
"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding." — Proverbs 4:7
You gotta love Proverbs — and you’d better listen to Revelation 3:16
Growth is never accidental. It takes humility, curiosity, and a willingness to let God refine us through Scripture, through mentors, and yes… even through those uncomfortable experiences we’d rather skip.
Most of us have a few areas where we’ve quietly decided, “Yeah… I think I’m good here.” But Proverbs nudges us: stay open, stay teachable, stay growing.
Sometimes wisdom comes crashing upon us like a hurricane making landfall. Those life changing moments that will either shape us or destroy us.
Without being open to the wisdom and promises found in my daily studies — in His — I don't think I'd have survived the many storms that arose in this season of my life.
But wisdom isn't always so bold and obvious. It often shows up through the voices of those who’ve walked the road ahead of us and through the quiet lessons God weaves into our day-to-day life.
Daily-Christian is a creation forged out of my 365 day faith journey. My new lifestyle. My new identity rooted in Christ. My continuing journey to wisdom and understanding. My call to share the wisdom I've been gifted. The call to discipleship. "Then He said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.'" — Matthew 4:19
I ultimately learned; what I was seeking was to be 🎼“a little more like Jesus, a little less like me.”🎶 ~ Zach Williams
I hope, in some way, my story, my journey back to faith — back to God — will stoke up the fire of your faith. Since you’ve read this far I’m guessing there’s at least some embers glowing.
Ask yourself:
Where is God inviting me to be more teachable right now?
Is it in my relationships, my habits, my faith, my encounters, or my reactions?
Who has God placed in my life that you could learn from — if I slowed down long enough to listen?
I invite you to follow my journey. I’d also love to hear from you.
"May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace" — Numbers 6:24-26
