Gratitude, Grace, and Gravy

Thanksgiving has a funny way of revealing who we really are.

Some of us wake up overflowing with gratitude. Others wake up overflowing with stuffing because we “taste-tested” everything at midnight. Me? A little of one and a lot of the other. 😁

I’ve learned this beautiful thing: God meets us in both places. In the joy, the chaos, the family noise, the burnt pies, the perfectly roasted turkeys, and the ones that, well… needed “a little more prayer.”

Thanksgiving isn’t just about looking around the table and saying “I’m thankful.” It’s about remembering why we can be thankful in the first place.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1

That’s the anchor. Not the cranberry sauce. Not the perfect family moment. Not the Instagram perfect version of life we imagine. But the enduring love of a God who shows up even when we’re exhausted, impatient, overwhelmed, doubtful, or waiting for a breakthrough that seems stuck in holiday traffic.

And maybe, Thanksgiving is God’s gentle annual reminder: “Slow down. Look up. Remember who I am. And remember who you are in Me.”

Because gratitude isn’t a personality trait. It’s a decision. A practice. A discipline. A quiet daily rebellion against the stress, fears, and distractions — against everything trying to steal our peace.

So today, as you gather with the people you love, take a moment to breathe. Whisper a prayer. Thank God for the blessings you can see. And the ones He’s working on behind the scenes.

And if someone asks what you’re thankful for this year? Here’s a good, honest answer: “I’m thankful for God’s patience with me… and mashed potatoes.” 🙏🏼

Happy Thanksgiving, my friends.

May your heart be full, your plate be fuller, and your spirit lifted by the One who gives every good gift.
