PEACE

What I’m learning about peace and identity.

We spend so much time chasing after peace through our circumstances. We tell ourselves: If I just had a little more money... if my health improved... if I could land that job... then I'd finally have peace.

But Jesus flips that whole idea on its head.

His peace isn't about what's happening around you. It's about who's living inside you.

ADVENT WEEK 2 - THE NEW HAS COME

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”John 14:27

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Christmas is the celebration of a birth that split history in half. And when you’re in Christ, that same kind of holy disruption happens inside you.

I’m not the “2024-with-a-few-upgrades” version of myself. I’m not a fixer-upper God reluctantly patched together. I’m a brand-new creation — born again the way Jesus was born into the world: with purpose, power, and a future that doesn’t match your past.

Peace comes from knowing that truth. Preparation comes from living like it’s actually real.

My identity isn’t chained to who I used to be. Former addict? That label died. Former failure? Buried. Former sinner? Washed, redeemed, reborn — a saint learning to walk out what God already declared true.

Jesus’ birth changed everything. My new birth in Him changes everything too.

I’m learning to stop letting old patterns set the tone for a new life. Stop giving your past veto power over your present. Stop calling yourself by names God no longer uses.

Advent peace isn’t passive. It’s the deep exhale of someone who knows the old is gone — and isn’t coming back. It’s preparing room for Christ not just in your calendar, but in your identity.

Ask yourself:

  • What “old” version of you are you still dragging into rooms where God has already declared you new?

  • What would today look like if you actually believed you’re a new creation — not theoretically, but practically?

This week of Advent hasn’t resolved everything in me — but it has clarified where peace comes from.
I’m learning to live from what God has already declared new, even when old habits still try to speak.

PRAYER

Jesus, thank You for the miracle of new life. You didn’t remodel me — You remade me. The old has passed away, and I stand here as someone You’ve made new. Teach me to walk in that truth with clarity, confidence, and peace. When I’m tempted to reach back for what You’ve already buried, pull my eyes forward. My past is redeemed. My future is secure. And my life belongs to You. Amen.

Christopher

I write about my triumphs and tribulations - my journey. I create and share content that inspires and heals me. Content that echoes the spirit of Jesus.
